TAXI LICENSING COMMISSION
The rates or fares to be charged by the brokers, owners or drivers of taxi cabs within the Area of the Commission and to any point not more than five (5) kilometers beyond the limits of said Area shall be as follows, Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), which shall be calculated by the meter:
1. If the meter is not on, the ride is free.
2.(a) For the first 77 metres or part $2.85
(b) For each additional 77 metres or part thereof .10
(c) For each additional passenger in excess of one .50
(d) For waiting time while under engagement for each thirteen (13) seconds .10
3. Baggage:
(a) For use of trunk or storage area .50
(b) For brief cases and parcels of comparable size – if loaded or unloaded by passenger NO CHARGE
(c) For manual wheelchairs, including loading and unloading by driver NO CHARGE
(d) For “service” dogs accompanying special needs people NO CHARGE
(e) For walkers used for medical reasons NO CHARGE
(f) For all other items, i.e. bicycles, skis, etc. at discretion of driver shall be $2.00 or more
as agreed upon before commencement of trip $2.00
(g) For delivery of any parcel document where no passenger is carried, minimum charge per
trip $6.35
(h) For specific van requests $2.00
(HST shall be calculated by the meter)
4. A flat rate for trips which will end more than five kilometers beyond the limits of the Area of theCommission may be arranged with the driver prior to commencement of the trip.
5. There shall be no charge for children under twelve (12) years of age in the charge of an adult.
6. Taxicabs may be rented by one passenger or passengers traveling as one group at an hourly rate for a minimum period of one hour. The charge for renting a taxi for one hour within the Area of the Commission and to any point not more than five kilometers beyond the Area shall be Forty Two Dollars and FortyCents ($42.40)(HST included). For each additional fifteen (15) minute period or portion thereof, the rental charge shall be Ten Dollars and Fifty Five Cents ($10.55).(HST included)
7. There shall be a extensive cleanup charge of Eighty Dollars and Fifty Cents ($80.50) inclusive of all labour and applicable taxes in the event of unusual sanitary accidents caused by the passenger within the passenger area of the taxicab. Receipts shall be required if requested by the Taxi Commission.
